Road Trip AZ to UT

After Texas, we stayed a night in Roswell, NM.

It was so over-the-top cheezy with alien stuff.

We also saw several people wearing tin foil hats.
Interesting...

We drove past the mountain where
forest rangers found Smokey the Bear.

I love watching the landscapes change.

This was kind of a cool spot with volcanic rocks.
We heard a rattlesnake nearby...

Also drove past the Very Large Array satellite fields.

And we made it to Snowflake to visit with
Paul, Daneen, and their kids. Yay!
Care Bear and Sydney are always SO excited to see each other.
Carson had just got a new Chihuahua puppy, Miel.

Oh, she is so cute.

Took a walk up to the temple.

Arizona sunsets! The best.

In the morning, Daneen, Colt, and I went for a desert walk.

In a fun turn of events, my old friend, Julie
happened to be on a temple trip to Snowflake
the same day I was there. We hadn't seen each
other in 16 years, since we left Tucson.
We only had a minute to visit, but
it was sure fun to see her and Shiloh!

Shaved ice!

I snuck over the temple to do a session.
Ran into three people that I knew!
Such a small world!

Some of Paul and Daneen's friends own some land
where they are growing lavendar. So pretty!

And they smelled so good!

Another gorgeous sunset.

Paul was working so we didn't get to spend
a whole lot of time to visit, but I wanted
to grab a pic with him before we left.

When we left AZ, we took two extra kids with us.
So fun to have Carson and Sydney along for the ride.

Oh, how I love the desert landscape!

Made it to Utah

Sydney has her free pass to National Parks this year,
so we took advantage of that and stopped at Arches for a bit.

It was super hot and crowded.

My attempts at jumping pics didn't go great...

So close!

We drove straight to BYU so we could watch Whitney
in her end-of-YASE performance. Hooray!
They do two performances.
My Dad, Cindy, Jane, Vivi, Cal, and Tru all went
to watch her first show. So fun!
My Dad took Carson and Sydney home with him.

The kids and I stayed to watch the second show.
It was fantastic!
Whit is in the green toward the left side of this pic.

I love watching her perform!

She made friends and can't wait to go back next year.

Grandma and Grandpa Sweat came down to
watch that second show with us.
So grateful Whit could have fans in both shows,
cheering our little hearts out for our girl.

B, Care Bear, and I stayed one night with Grandma and Grandpa Sweat. We left in the morning to drive back to Provo, pick Whit up from her dorm, and head out to Roosevelt to spend some time with my Dad, Destiny, Robby, and cousins.

Road Trip 2019 NC to TX

It's that time of year...
Road Trip Time!
This year we had to pack up all of B's stuff
to move out of the house! Crazy!
We also got a bike rack to put on the back of the van,
so he could take his bike out to Utah with him.
Whitney flew out to Salt Lake so that she could
go to YASE (Young Ambassador's Singing Entertainers workshop).

Caroline got to start reading Harry Potter
and the Half Blood Prince!

We each had our own row in the van. Ha!

Beautiful road trip weather!

Our first fun stop was in Atlanta at Nitro Zone.

I love watching these two kick butt on the ninja course.

We stayed the night in Brandon, Mississippi
and went to sacrament meeting there on Sun morning.

We had to drive through a hurricane,
which was unnerving, and white-knuckle,
but didn't feel perilous somehow...

We got to spend two nights with Bill and Irene.
Caroline is always happy to see Roxy and Sailor.

They took us to an escape room.

The special effects were impressive,
but the trail of clues wasn't very logical
and we needed lots of hints to get out.
But we made it!

We met Deborah, Courtney, and Braelyn for lunch.

Bill drove us through the Ft. Worth Stockyards.
I told them that's where I want to go next time we visit.

Chicken foot

We drove through San Saba and made a quick stop
to say Hi to Grandma Cuca and Gigi.

We stopped at the Lambert's

And Tia Lodia's.

It was hard to say good-bye this time.

Gigi and Grandma are packing up Grandma's
house to sell it. She'll move closer to Bill and Irene.

This house holds SO many good memories for me
and my kids over the years. Grateful we could stop
by one last time.

It's warming up! 104 degrees.

Next, we stopped in Midland to visit
Destiny and her family.
The oldest and youngest cousins on my side.
So cute.

We grabbed dinner at Whataburger.

It was a quick, but fun visit.
Luckily, we'll get to see them in Utah later.

Matchy-matchy!
Love this cute shirt Dest got me for my birthday!
And, oh, how I love this time of year that is filled
with family and friends.
