What May Looked Like

May!
It was a great month.

Now that the COVID vaccine is available and
more people are getting it, we're able to resume
some normal group activities.
There was a stake youth activity.

Masks were still required.

And the majority of the activity was outdoors.

But it was so fun to be together with some of the youth from our stake!

Andrew and I had a fun geocaching date.
The weather has been very mild.
We are LOVING it.

Cool root system of a fallen tree

Pretty lake views.

I LOVE this pic with the little sunburst
at the side. And those little white flowers
are so cute.

This was a fun cache hidden in an old bird box.

Whit and I got our second vaccine. Yippee!
We managed to not get COVID.

This is one my favorite commissions Whit has ever done.
A woman hired her to do this for her husband's anniversary gift:
them with their SIXTEEN pets!!!

Peonies have become one of my fave flowers.
Gorgeous!

The hummers are back!

So are my Gerbera daisies.

And so are the Grasshoppers!
Andrew and I went to a game for date night.
It was freezing.
Notice we are wearing our WINTER COATS.
In May...
Crazy.

We love going to baseball games.
So fun.

Caroline has continued to play tennis.
It is so fun to watch her play a sport that we love!

She had fun.
She probably won about half of her matches.
It was good to see her progress over the season.
This match was great.
Against a girl who was the same age as C
and they were a good match-up for each other.
And she called good lines.
And was complimentary.

They had some good, fun points.

Natalie finished her Master's!
So proud of her.
Her plans changed A LOT over the past five years,
with TWINS joining the family and Covid,
but she pushed through and made it.

She had a party at Bur-Mil park to celebrate.

It was so fun to see friends!

Grateful for Natalie and David's friendship.
And we miss having them in the neighborhood!
(Andrew is a giant...)

Mother's Day!
I love that I get to be in charge and my
family willingly comes along.
Family photo shoot in the common area behind our house.

Me and my girls

We played lots of board games after church.
Then they made me vegetable lasagna and
strawberry shortcake with fresh-picked strawberries.
Yum!

Found a big ol' millipede while I was out doing yardwork.
Yikes.
Luckily, he was already dead.

We had a crazy, random hail storm!
It just barely hailed at our house, but a couple
miles down the road, we saw this!

What the heck??
It was crazy!
We lost power at home for a couple of hours.

Went out to ColdStone to celebrate Whitney.
That talented girl was awarded a scholarship to MANC,
the Music Academy of North Carolina,
where she takes voice lessons.
She will have part of her tuition for voice paid for
by her scholarship. She's awesome! Yippee!

Pretty walk around the neighborhood lake.

Saw this crazy fish in the water...
not sure what's going on there...

I finished Ring Fit!
I've been super close for the last several weeks,
but didn't actually want to finish.
Because I didn't want it to end.
I didn't know that there were still levels
to do AFTER you finish. Yay!

They opened a Crumbl cookie store a couple of
miles from our house. Yikes.
This could be bad for my waistline...
Caroline and I (and about half of the population of
Greensboro) went down to get a free chocolate chip cookie.

We love cookies!

They were delicious and totally worth the wait.

My red Gerbera daisies on the back porch
have conjoined twins!

The government opened up vaccinations
for teenagers and Caroline qualified,
so we got her first dose.
We were hoping Canada would open
up their borders so we could visit
this summer, but that's not looking good...
Darn.

My hydrangea is getting bigger!
I can tell I'm going to have more blossoms this year!

When I'm sitting out on my swing, I get to
see how much wildlife is in my backyard.
I see and hear LOTS of birds, some squirrels,
occasional rabbits, and once in a while
this cat walks through.

More tennis

Andrew's heels are still killing him.
He's going to need surgery, which will be a long,
painful process. Poor guy. I hate that his body is
always breaking down on him.
We hadn't played tennis together for months,
but rented a court to go hit around.
It felt so good to play together!

FHE karaoke night

I heart sunsets!

The evenings have been SO nice.
The temperatures have been perfect,
in the high 60's or low 70's.
And low humidity, which is amazing!
But we know the muggy summer nights are just around the corner.
So some nights we'll just sit out on the back porch and visit.
Ahhhhh.

I re-potted my African violet and it's starting to bloom
again for the first time in over a year. yay!

I haven't had lunch with friends in forever.
Bea and Maureen met me at Southern Roots.
We had SO much to catch up on.
It was fantastic!!

The ice cream truck drove through the neighborhood.
Fun.

Dinner with my preschool friends!
We got hugs!
It was fabulous!

I got to stop by the Parks and Rec office downtown
to pick up our prize for finishing the scavenger hunt.
It's a super cute picnic blanket!

Brandon went up to SLC to watch a climbing comp.
He stayed with Grandma and Grandpa Sweat.
They got to meet his friend, Morgan.
They were just friends at that time, but
they're dating now. Grandma Sweat likes her a lot.

Care Bear's last tennis match.
She got to play with my friend, Carrie's, daughter
and they beat two of the good guy players in a
close, fun match. Woot!

In the condo where Marianne and I stayed,
we would pass this door on the way to ours.
I thought of Whitney singing "The Girl in 14-G"
every time. Ha!

More violet blooms!

Care Bear had a virtual chorus concert.
She and Sarah had a duet together.

Her class also had a virtual awards ceremony.

She did awesome.
Got a couple of awards.

And made the honor roll.

AND she turned THIRTEEN.
Hooray!
It's hard having a birthday that coincides with a
holiday weekend. She invited four friends to her party,
but only KK and Caroline W could make it.
We had the best time.
We got Chick-fil-a for dinner, ate at the picnic tables
at the Friendly Center, and then I gave them each
some money to shop. We didn't time things very well because
some of the stores close at EIGHT. (Why??? On a Friday??)
But the girls still had a good time together.

Then we came back to our house for presents and dessert.
Care Bear wanted Crumble cookies instead of cake.

The hydrangea started blooming1

It makes me so happy!

So does my violet.

Movie theaters opened back up!
Yay!
We went TWICE.
First to see Finding You, a PG-rated romcom that
had so much potential, but was kinda lame. Darn.
Then to watch Dream Horse, a PG-rated feel-good
show based on a true story, which we both really liked.

We got a second feeder this year and have them up in
different windows.
This one in the dining room gets the most hummers,
but we'll see one at the other feeder once in a while.

I got to speak in church this month on
the sacrament and covenants.
I take SO long to prepare talks or lessons,
but I thoroughly enjoy speaking.
Even though I get nervous when I first start.

Lake Day!
The Hunters invited friends over for Memorial Day.
Several families came over.
It was beautiful weather.
We had a fantastic time.

We went out to Chipotle for dinner afterward.
So, so happy that life is trending back toward normal.
Indoor seating still wasn't open at Chipotle,
but it was a nice evening, so it was fine to eat outdoors.
Looking forward to more normalcy this summer!
