Caroline's First Aerial Silks Recital

Caroline has been working HARD for the last year on her strength and flexibility. We talked with Sabrina and worked it out to have a small family recital while the big kids were home over Christmas. It was so much fun!

Caroline and Sabrina.

Sabrina is a great teacher and we've been happy
to have her lead Caroline through beginning silks,
lyra, contortion, and a little bit of canes.

Both so flexible!

C came up with four routines: one on the lyra and three on silks.
If you just want the highlights, here the best parts:
Isn't she awesome???

If you'd like to see everything,
here you go!
This was her first routine on the silks,
including double footlocks and rolls.
Oh my gosh.
Her flexibility astounds me.

Her other routine on the silks starts out with
a little bit of contortion at the beginning.
Then she climbs up and does a big slack drop!
My favorite!

Her final silks routine has an inverted crochet rotational drop.
So cool and intricate.
I love how Sabrina sneaks out to spin her. :)

And, finally, her lyra routine.
I don't know the names of everything she does, but I know these:
mermaid, inverted full split, pike, back balance, and bird's nest. flare.
So impressed with her.

When the recital was done, we had a little bit of
time for family circus stunts!
B on the trapeze

Dubs on the lyra

When Sabrina even got ANDREW on the lyra,
that was the best! Are we ready to go on tour, or what?

The family that plays together...

Sabrina even taught B how to do a climb!

And she got Whitney into the splits.

Seriously, these kids!

A little snippet of all three of them.

Here's B climbing to the top.

I guess if you can climb rocks,
you can climb silks???

We also tried a little partner acro.

Such a fun experience to celebrate C and share
as a family! Loved it!

Christmas 2022

In reverse order...
Google had been doing so well at not reversing them lately...

December = puzzle month!
So happy to have Whit, my puzzle helper, home!

Caroline's big gift this year was CANES.
She hasn't used them as much as I thought she would...

You know I'm not much of a crier,
but Grandma Cuca sent personalized gifts for us
and for the kids that TOTALLY made me
cry on Christmas Day.
She embroidered these pillowcases for Andrew and me.

Aren't they cute?
And she stitched a border around a photo of her with
each great-grandkid. My mom included a poem that
was about how she wasn't herself anymore, but hold
on to the memories that we have with her.
It was heart wrenching.

New ornaments of Bumble and Scoot.

And a nameplate for their cage

Fun puzzle from my parents

Andrew got me a cute bluebird painting

A new sweater for Whit

Cute little panthers snowman for Drew

And we HAD to buy him this shirt when C and I
saw it at Buc-ee's earlier this year.

I also got a cast iron skillet.
Which I asked for.
But now I'm afraid to use.
So it has just sat in my cupboard. :/

Packing cubes for B-train who does quite
a bit of traveling as a climbing coach.

The canes!

The cute kids who still let me take a
top-of-the-stairs picture. Love them.

The parents waiting at the bottom.

Another puzzle

And one more.
We were on a roll!

Upstairs Christmas Eve pics
This girl

Almost ready to join the circus

So flexible!

Dubs was trying to make a heart out of herself.
Can you kinda see it? :)

Ninja!

Oh, how I love having these three home!

Family Christmas Eve photo!

These were the only two pics I got of the sibling
gift exchange. Not sure why.

But these were awesome crystal soaps that W got for C.

Christmas Eve Dinner!

This feast is the best!

Yum yum yum yum yum

Annual Gingerbread build

B took FOREVER working on this awesome car.

He could tell you exactly what model it is.
But I forgot. Oops.

It looks cool!

To celebrate successfully completing her first
semester of college, W built the clock tower
on Utah Tech campus.

She did a good job, huh?

I forgot what Andrew built.
Is that horrible?
Can you tell what it is?

He's not available right now, or I'd ask him...

My tradition little house.

I love the shingles.

Bear made a super cute cactus.

I love the sand at the bottom.

Hard at work making our masterpieces!
