George Wells did some summer piano training in Brevard, NC.
At the end of it, JoEllen and Kyle came out to visit.
So we got to meet them for dinner one evening.
They wanted to try local food, so I found the perfect
little place in Mocksville called Miller's Restaurant.
They serve livermush... Kyle ordered it and loved it.
Ewwww...
And JoEllen brought me my t-shirt quilt!!
These are the t-shirts that I took to her in St. George
when we were road-tripping through.
It includes lots of recital shirts, climbing shirts, and even
some of my old volleyball and track shirts. What a treasure!
And what service to deliver it across the country!
We've been friends since our Tucson days, but have
spent very little time with the four of us. Loved it.
Wedding day for Ember and Luke!
Yippee!
Their love story is so beautiful and they
both recently finished service Spanish-
speaking missions. I'm so excited for them!
Ethel drove up with us.
Lots of family waiting for the couple.
And lots of friends, too.
I can't remember what was said here,
but apparently, I found it hilarious.
Hooray!
That night I helped with the food at the reception,
along with an amazing army of women.
The reception was beautiful.
It's almost softball season!
Andrew is finally healthy and joined
our team! Yippee! We're so excited
to be able to play together after so many years.
We went to the batting cages to practice.
We're gonna be ready!
When I showed up to the Khat's house, this was
how their living room looked! Isn't it gorgeous?
Ice got engaged this weekend and this was the decor.
I think they said Mony did it. I was so impressed.
Hurricane Debby came through this month.
Thankfully, we were mostly spared.
I found a yellow watermelon at the store.
Love it! And it reminds me of Grandma Cuca.
On one of my morning walks,
a kitty adopted me.
I don't even like cats,
but this little cutie kinda changed my mind.
I tried to get away from her,
but she was persistent.
And quicker than you'd think.
I walk a three mile loop.
And she hung in there for over two miles of it!
We finally crossed paths with a man and she
started following him instead. I quickly
hurried away so I wouldn't be tempted to take her home.
Birthday lunch for Natalie.
So grateful for her friendship!
Dennis came out to visit!
Andrew invited him out to go to the Wyndham golf tournament.
It was so fun to have him to ourselves for a few days.
We went out to Sweet Ol' Bills.
Lunch with Rebecca at Kapadokia.
Also grateful for her friendship and to serve together.
A fun find at McKay's Used Books--
It's a version of Go Fish, but beautiful.
August is time for the Perseids Meteor Shower!
And we were in town, so I invited C and D to come out with me.
And they said YES!
We found a spot out by Belews Lake where there
wasn't too much light pollution. It wasn't a FANTASTIC
show, but we each got to see a few good ones.
Mony (Screen) won our Kahoot!
That never happens!
Caroline's first day of Junior Year!
Yippee!
Her classes this year:
Yoga, AP Human Geography, AP Calc,
AP Lang, AP Environmental Science,
and Chorus. She also took 4 classes through
the community college: American History 1 and 2,
public speaking, and music appreciation.
Wow! That's a lot!
I'm so glad she had Yoga and Chorus to help
balance out that heavy workload!
She's most excited for Quiz Bowl to start again!
Also looking forward to Book Club.
Green heron hiding on the shore of the neighborhood lake.
Our first softball game together!
Our team isn't great,
but we sure have fun playing together.
Andrew is awesome!
He's such a great hitter,
especially since he's a lefty and
can control which direction he wants
to hit it. Such a great asset to our team!
Temple date!
One of our favorites!
Instead of our usual local ice cream place
after the temple, we tried the one across the place.
Bad idea!
Stick with the local one!
It was overpriced, less ice cream, and
the ice cream wasn't as good. Three strikes.
The Khat's are SO generous and always
feed me when I'm at their home.
This week was cantaloupe in some sort
of sweet milk.
Paper is the most experienced English speaker, so
he ALWAYS wins the Kahoots that we do.
It was so exciting for Sedaleak to win!
Yummy dinner with Bea and Maureen.
Work!
I love my job!
I love my job!
It is really a dream to have a job that I
enjoy, that pays well, and that has the
flexibility for me to only do it one day a week.
Perfect!
Birding in Jamestown
Found more mushrooms than birds. Ha!
Relief Society Temple Trip with Ethel and Jean
We love softball!!
We had a double-header one night, so grabbed
this quick pic in between games.
Sabrina was asked to be the lunchtime entertainment
at a TEDx conference in Greensboro.
And she asked Caroline and a few other
students to perform with her.
So exciting!
Her first public performance!
We got to watch.
The rest of the participants were getting their lunches.
She did AMAZING!
Oh, I love watching her perform.
So strong and flexible!
With the rest of the performers.
With Sabrina afterwards
So proud of our girl!
Double date with Steve and Lisa Page.
Steve is one of the Stake Presidents down in Charlotte.
I LOVE Lisa. She is super fun and adventurous.
We get along really well. It was SO fun to spend the
evening with them.
TopGolf
And then we went out to dinner afterward.
More birding
Belated Ward Pioneer Day activity. Super fun.
My bountiful tomato harvest
It's that time of year!!!
Fantasy Football!
In an effort to connect with a homebound friend,
Debbie, I decided to start an all-women fantasy league.
(And then Debbie ended up not being able to participate! Boo!)
I was planning to just be the commissioner in the league,
but since Debbie had to drop out, I had a team as well.
My team (Gridiron Girl) apparently ROCKED the draft!
Date night at Boxcar arcade
Bird walk with the bird club at Guil Co Farm.
Got to see a Blue Grosbeak!
