What July Looked Like (pre-Road Trip)

We didn't leave on our big road trip until mid-July. We managed to pack a lot into those couple of weeks before we left.

A few lilies came back after the rest were eaten.

Date night at the Grasshoppers

We had unseasonably cool weather and it was fabulous.

Girls Camp was still limited this year because of COVID restrictions.
We weren't allowed to have any overnight activities.
The girls were divided into age groups and had a full day
of activities at the stake center with all the YW from the stake.
Both Whitney and Caroline had a GREAT time on their day.

One of the stake leaders shared this pic of Whit and her
friends in their painting portion of the day.

On Friday, the wards were in charge of planning an
activity with all of their YW.
We decided to go kayaking on the New River.
It was a seven-mile trip.
It was SO much fun.
For a few of our YW, it was the first time they had kayaked.
And for others it was the first time kayaking that far.

Row, row, row your boat

These girls wanted to be at the front of the pack.
I put myself in charge of keeping up with them.

There were a few fun little rapids.

Lots of other parts were lazy.

Whitney chopped her hair off right before this.
It looks so cute.

The beautiful New River

Our ride out to the drop-off spot.
We had a van full!

I was so happy that most of our YW could make it!

We met at the Greenwoods that night for
dinner and a little fireside.

More cat-sitting pics.

These pics were taken on the same day.
There's a BIG price difference between
gas at Sheetz and gas at Sam's club.
Less than 1/2 a mile away from each other.

Drew had the 5th of July off of work.
We went on a little adventure to Burlington and Durham.
We ate at the Lost Cajun again.
Yummy.
Love Caroline's laugh in this pic. :)

Beignets!!

We stopped at our favorite little art store in Burlington,
Owl and Rabbit Gallery.

Also stopped at NC State's Creamery in Durham for delicious ice cream.

And we went on a little hike at Historic Yates Mill County Park.

We liked this pretty lake.
And most of the hike was shaded, which
is a bonus in July.

We thought this caterpillar was pretty cool.

I love it when we find these teeny tiny frogs.

Care Bear's yummy beef and broccoli dinner.

These are the kind of pics I get from B.

C sure loved that dream job of cat sitting.
She misses those cats.

4th of July!
Michael and Shelley and their kids were driving back
to Arkansas after spending time at the beach.
They stayed the night with us and we celebrated the 4th of July.

Just missing B-train

It was SO good to hang out with Michael and Shelley.
Shelley and I sat out on the back porch talking
the night away until 4 am!!
What the heck???

We played a few rounds of Jackbox while they were here, too.

B and Morgan took a quick trip to Colorado.

Tennis date night
Isn't the sky cool?
Andrew's heels bother him too much to play regular tennis.
So we don't keep score and just hit around.
It's good practice for me.

Care Bear did one week of tennis camp at Cedarwood.
She enjoyed it and played well.
But she started back up on the rock climbing team,
so she's taking a break from tennis for now.
