What June Looked Like

 We're back to reverse order.
I present June, from the 30th to the 1st.
Caroline was hired to cat-sit for a new family in the ward.
It was such a fiasco.
They accidentally left us a key that didn't work.
So the poor kitties were locked in.
They said they would overnight us the key.
But it was actually sent priority mail.
And apparently the mail service is slowed
down because of COVID.
So we were locked out of the house for SIX DAYS!
Those poor kitties!

We had to get creative.
Andrew figured out that we could push a sliding
door open about two inches.
We got some cat food from our neighbors.
We brought it over the house, along with
some paper bowls.
We folded them up and shoved them through
the little two inch crack to get the kitties some food.
We rigged something similar with a squeezable
water bottle and a long straw to get water into them.
When we finally got the key, we were SO
happy to see that both kitties were alive and well.
Care Bear LOVED going over to visit
with them every day or two.

Caroline got to do some tie die this summer.
She did a couple of shirts and a couple of masks.

Miss Whit received her patriarchal blessing this month.

So grateful we could share this special day with her.

One of the Baughan's sons got married.
We went to the reception at their home.

They had an ICE CREAM TRUCK.
So fun!

My phone camera got a new setting to take
night-sky photography.

I had fun testing it out.

Anniversary Getaway.
Happy 24th to us!
I rented a super cute AirBnB on Lake Norman in Troutman.
We stayed two nights and it was the perfect getaway.

We had BEAUTIFUL weather.

Andrew finally caught a fish!
After months of trying fishing as a hobby,
he got one! So fun.

We did some geocaching.
This one was tricky!

Yummy Mexican dinner.

The owners of our AirBnB had kayaks for us to use.
We had so much fun kayaking around Lake Norman.
I loved it!

Another cache.

Yummy wild blackberries!

Look at all of those.

A couple more caches.

We ran into some COVID-related problems with our dinners.
Some of the restaurants I picked out closed early.
Many of them are experiencing staff shortages.

We had to make lots of calls and drive a little further than
we wanted, but we found a yummy place called Flock.
It was delicious.
And has live music playing,
which is always fun.

The first place we tried to eat was lakeside,
which would've been fun.
But they closed early and wouldn't seat us.

It was so relaxing to sit out on the back deck.
Andrew would fish and I would read and play Candy Crush.

More kayaking.

Our cute little loft room.
It was perfect for the two of us.

Our hosts were so sweet to leave us flowers and snacks
to wish us a happy anniversary.
Andrew was wishing they had left Pepsi instead of wine. :)

Before we left for Troutman,
we went up to the park and hit softballs together.
Super fun.

Care Bear and her friends

I broke my toe!
I kicked the ottoman.

It hurt SO bad.
Ouch.

Dave and Busters!
I finished one of the Star Trek card sets I was working on.
Woot.

For one of our YW activities,
we taught the YW how to make
plastic bag sleeping mats.

It's a fun activity because you can visit while
you work. The girls did great and enjoyed it.

Celeste came to see us!
She's doing a traveling assignment in NC right now.

It was so fun to hang out with her for a bit!

Date night at Sweet Old Bill's.
So yummy.
I LOVE their tomato pie.

We hired Care Bear to pressure wash the
basketball court and the driveway.

She did a good job!

She saved up her money to buy a new gaming setup.

My lilies are blooming!

I love them so much!
But then some animal came along and ATE THEM ALL.
Boooooo.

We had youth conference in June.
I was so happy I got to help a little bit
and rub shoulders with these awesome youth.

Missionary segment

Andrew also got to speak with them one morning.

That's a lot of Duolingo!

Care Bear and I spent a morning
volunteering at GUFI.
We helped weed one part of the community garden.

And then we helped plant in another part.

More pretty hydrangea blooms.

Cool arrowhead collection at the Frontier museum.

My supermodel girl in downtown Atlanta

So pretty.

My birthday!
Andrew got me cheesecake from Cheesecake Factory.

Some of my gifts

Marianne got me a new beach chair.
Can't wait to use it!

Andrew and I went for a walk around the lake.
Usually the fireflies come out right around my birthday,
but we didn't get to see any this year.

Dinner at Mi Pueblo.

Andrew decorated the house for me,
which was so fun to come home to.

School was out for the girls on my birthday,
so they came with me on some adventures.
We got delicious gelato in Winston.

We painted rocks for a YW activity earlier
this months, so we took them along
and left them on our hikes.

We stopped at Hanging Rock.
We went back to Upper Cascades,
Whit's favorite waterfall swimming room.

It was COLD.

Care Bear and I just watched her swim. :)

Another one of our rocks.

Forty-four!

Cool overlook at Hanging Rock.

Big ol' millipede we saw along the way.

Another pretty rock left behind.
This one was gone by the time
we headed back to the car.

Hooray for birthday hikes!

Love these two cuties.

Whitney was chosen as a Junior Major Scholar.

She got a personalized mask to wear at graduation.

Still love watching these hummers.
Both a female

And a male.

My Gerbera daisies are so pretty this year!

Little green cherry tomatoes

And one little red one!

More Dave and Busters.
I'm such a sucker for that place!

My first harvest from our little container garden.
