We needed to be in Utah by mid-July to attend Grandma Hiatt's funeral.
She passed away in October, but we weren't able to have the funeral at that time,
so we all gathered on what would've been her next birthday.
Almost all of her posterity was able to attend.
Almost all of her posterity was able to attend.
It was a beautiful service.
Andrew's generation of cousins sang "Homeward Bound."
Holy cow. That was not a song a was familiar with.
It is gorgeous. And those cousins have some TALENT.
This is a rehearsal the night before and there were more voices
at the funeral, but you get a little taste of how amazing it was.
Grandma joined her sweetheart who passed away three years ago.
Andrew conducted the funeral.
He always does a great job.
Lots of experience with conducting meetings.
Grandma Hiatt was a very quiet and reserved
person, so it was fun to get hear stories about her
that we never heard while she was alive.
Most of the loved ones who attended
Grandma Hiatt had three daughters: Denny, July, and Barbara,
who are front and center in this pic.
Most of their kids and grandkids are surrounding them.
Andrew's parents with most of their kids and grandkids.
We're missing Tony, Reagan, Eli, Vivian, Elise, and Ethan.
We were SO happy to spend a little time together
as a family. Our time was super limited because
Andrew had Whit had to fly home the next morning.
And I planned a Dental Hygiene class reunion that night.
We had yummy a Cafe Rio luncheon afterward.
We're missing one twenty-year-old,
Reagan who is serving a mission in Brazil right now.
We're always so happy when we get to spend time with B!
It has been TWENTY years since we finished Dental Hygiene school.
We had THE BEST graduating class.
We all got along so well and there was no drama.
It was magical.
Since almost everyone still lives in Utah,
I sometimes try to get us together when I'm in town.
This time we met at Emily's gorgeous house and
visited over dinner. It was so fun to hear updates on everyone.
We were only missing THREE of our thirteen classmates.
AMAZING.
Lisa, Emily, Melinda, Gayla, me, Laura
Linda, Holly, Dee, and Marci
We tried to recreate our class photo from twenty years ago.
So fun.
On Saturday morning, we got to play tennis with
Amy, Dave, Jack, Macy, and Carly.
Yay!
It was a great time.
But they kicked our butts.
They are amazing.
Jack killed me in singles.
I think Caroline just played doubles.
And they taught us some fun games to play
that aren't just one-on-one.
It's so fun to have this sport in common with them.
On Saturday afternoon,
I took B and C to a climbing gym called The Front.
Oh, how I've missed watching these two climb.
They are SOOO cute together.
And they are SOOO strong.
It's amazing.
We got to meet Morgan for the first time.
She and Brandon have been dating since May.
I got a good first impression of her,
but we didn't get to spend a ton of time together.
After climbing, Grandma and Grandpa took us out
for yummy Japanese food.
B and Morgan headed back down to St. George that night.
On Sunday, Cindy invited us down to her house for dinner.
We got to meet Lauren and Zack's adorable new puppy.
And Vivi was back from girls' camp, so C was happy to
catch up with her for a while.
Our time in Utah was too short,
but at least we knew we'd be seeing our family again soon.
