What September Looked Like

C and I saw a cute fox when we were leaving climbing.

A long-time investigator from our ward was diagnosed with cancer.
The YW put together a bunch of hearts and I got to
go "heart attack" her house while she was out.

Sister Katelyn Leinbach returned from her mission to Hawaii.
So exciting!
For YW one night, we went over to their home and she
shared experiences from her mission.
It was a great activity.

As she was scrolling through pics, I saw a familiar face.
The girl in the black t-shirt is the daughter of some
of our friends from BYU. Crazy small world!

Marianne and I talk on the phone two mornings a week.
We both go walking while we talk.
This was the sunrise over our neighborhood lake one morning.
SO GORGEOUS.

Whitney is AMAZING!!!!
She was chosen as the TOP Soprano 2 IN THE STATE
for Honors Chorus. Hooray! So proud of her!!

I made it to the Diamond League in Duolingo.
It's kind of a big deal.

I got us tickets to a magic show in High Point.
Whitney had to work that night,
so we took Piper along with us instead.
It was AWESOME.
We LOVED it.
Our jaws dropped several times.
How did he do that????

Andrew and I joke around that playing Space Invaders
at Spare Time on Wednesdays is my part time job. Ha!
I've been "working" hard for the past 6-9 months and we
earned enough tickets to buy an OCULUS!
Awesome!

We usually only get enough points to win the bonus,
not to make it on the leaderboard. But there we are,
in 4th and 8th places! We've met "Spade" before.
He's also an advantage gamer. So fun to bond with him
over winning bonuses.

Andrew even has a Space Invaders shirt!
That's how you know we're legit. :)

My fantasy football season got off to a good start!
I won my first two games and am in first place! Woot!

The Raleigh Temple FINALLY reopened for baptisms.
Hooray!
It was closed for over a year due to COVID.
The girls got to go with the ward.
So happy!

Some pretty flower pics from the Biltmore.

We got to have a fun visit with Celeste!
She drove her RV up here and got a spot in High Point
for a couple of nights.
We loved having her on our coast!

Some fun ukulele time.

We tried her unicycle.
It's so hard!

How many families have TWO unicyclists???

It was so fun to watch them ride together.
They both decided to learn during quarantine last year.

She makes it look easy.

She and I got to spend two days together hiking.
It was fantastic!
One day was spent at Hanging Rock.

Love the view up there.

THE actual Hanging Rock.
We think.

She brought her drone and was able to fly it around a bit.

Found another marker.

Took her to Whit's favorite little swimming hole,
Upper Cascades.

This is Oak Hollow Lake, where her RV park was.

The other day we headed to Stone Mountain NC.
We found a nice wooded trail outside of the state park.
But it was kinda boring.
Didn't lead to anything.

Found a cute little cairn.

And a beautiful butterfly.

Another marker.

The hike at Stone Mountain was gorgeous.
More beautiful views of the rolling hills.

But it was HARD.
Celeste is in GOOD shape.
This hike kicked my butt.
I had to stop and rest several times,
while Celeste just kept on trekking.

There's an old homestead at one part of the park.

And a cool waterfall at another.

So happy I could spend time with my sister,
when she's usually at least three time zones away.

Piper and Caroline were team teachers for YW.
They did a great job.

Still working on our plastic bag mats for homeless people.

NC Folk Festival!
Love this fun weekend in Greensboro!
Some years just Andrew and I go, but Whit had an evening
off of work, so all four of us headed downtown.
It was so much fun!

Andrew's heels can only handle so much walking,
so he headed to the van early and the girls and I kept exploring.

They have some maker booths set up along the street.
Whit found these awesome music note earrings.

We're so lucky that this comes to town every fall.

We got a few cherry tomatoes from our
little container garden. So yummy!

Whitney and I thought this Duolingo lesson
about hairless cats was hilarious!

On one of our evening walks around the neighborhood,
Andrew and I came across this bird of prey.
So cool!

Google says I've been 75% around the world this year!
That's a lot of travel!

Another date night at my part-time job.

Made a quick visit to Sister Jones,
a widow in our ward that we just adore.

Another date night in downtown Greensboro.
Love spending time together!

Brandon moved out of Raintree Apartments.
He and his friend, Kip, worked together to
remodel Kip's shed into a living space.
When he told us that was his plan, I had my hesitations.
But it turned out great!

And he's really happy there.

Doesn't it look good?

Pros: He has space to himself, no roommate.
Rent is cheaper than it was at Raintree.

Cons: There's no bathroom or kitchen,
so he has to go into Kip's house for those.
(He doesn't seem to mind.)
There's no locking door.
(B also doesn't seem to mind that,
but that looks like an expensive gaming setup to me...)
