BYU Home Game Nov 2024

For my birthday this year, I asked for tickets to a BYU game again. The one worked best for my schedule was in November against Kansas. Barb and I had SUCH a perfect experience together last year that I was afraid it couldn't be duplicated. But we sure wanted to try! I flew out by myself this time, flying standby and it worked out great.

I got put in the row with ALL the legroom.
It was dreamy!

We had some time to ourselves to hang out.
Barb took me to a super fun Christmas expo.
It was a giant, indoor maker market.
So big!

We had a great time walking around.

 I love seeing people's creativity.

Chinese calligraphy

I got to meet Grandpa Beck!!

Ducks galore

These pastries looked amazing.

We found a few gifts!
I left some for Whit that could just stay in Utah and
not have to go back-and-forth to NC.

We also love stopping at Le Petit Maison.

Oh my gosh.
It is one of my favorite stores!

So so cute!
I mostly just window shop,
but I love it.

We stopped at a yummy Thai restaurant nearby.
The owner was super talkative.

She sprouts her own beans.

We went downtown to Temple Square for a bit.
Stopped by the Conference Center

The temple is still under construction.

And the church office building.

And then we spent quite a bit of time in the
Church History Museum.
They had a phenomenal art exhibit.

Loved walking around and taking it all in.

This stained glass is awesome.

Love the church artwork from around the world.

Stunning!

Cool sunset with the sun beams coming through.

Tree of life!

It was snowing on the way into Walmart

Can you see the little flakes??

And then on Saturday we were off to BYU for the game!
We like to ride Frontrunner down there.
We got there early and went to the Museum of Art first.

It was COLD!
We dressed in layers and brought blankets.
I had hand warmers and Barb had bought
lap warmers that were fabulous!

We got down there for the Cougar Canyon--
where the players walk through the corridor
of fans. Go Cougs!

We ate at the food trucks there.
I love CupBop!

Ready for the game!!

Barb got her CougarTail!

The marching band is always fun to watch.

Pre-game fireworks

These were the guys sitting next to us.
They were a hoot!
Fun to chat with as we watched.

The game itself was A BUST! Waaaaaa!
The Cougars NEVER lose at home at night!
But we were there for the one game that they did!
Booooooo!
It was so lame.

And then we had issues getting home!
The Frontrunner schedule said they stayed open late for certain events,
including BYU home games. But when we got to the station, it said their
last train had already departed. Thumbs down!!!
So Dennis had to drive down and rescue us.
(But then while we were waiting for him, a last train
did come through--too late for us.)

And then on Sunday morning, I was on a plane to get back home.
Not sure why I look so serious...

Beautiful sunrise from the airport. :)

Even though the Cougs lost, it was still fun to be in Lavell Edwards Stadium. We'll hope for better results next year!

What Oct 2024 Looked Like

Bea was in a horrible bike accident.
She had a traumatic brain injury and we weren't
sure if/how she would recover.
A few of us got together to make a gift for her.

We made this big banner for her
and also put together a photo book.

She was in the hospital in Winston,
right across the street from my work, so
I got to stop and visit with her on my way home
from work and drop off our gifts.
She looked SO much better than I was expecting.
Her memory is a little slow, but her personality is
still there and we're hopeful she'll make a full recovery.

Big win on Wingspan!

General Conference weekend!

The one time a year I make cinnamon rolls!
Yummy yum yum.

A beautiful sunset over Oak Hollow Lake.
Those giant inflatable ducks crack me up.

Andrew and I watched a pro Loboton match at
Spencer Love. Pretty entertaining.

My 6.5 40+ team won our daytime league!
Yippee!

Went out to lunch to celebrate!
Unfortunately, we lost the playoff
match and didn't get to go to States.
Neither of my teams got to go. It was so sad.
I had been to Wilmington for several years in a row!

Got to watch an online training for World Relief.
I LOVE their mission. They are very Christ-focused.

This was one of the scriptures they shared. Loved it.

This random pumpkin was growing by the side
of the neighborhood walking trail!

Bird walk with the bird club at Southwest Park.
I love when Jayne gets to come with me.
And Pam, standing next to me, is one of my favorite birders.
She's better than my Merlin app!
It blows my mind!

A random glimpse into our fridge.
I'm not sure why I have this pic....

Thursday nights = SOFTBALL!
We've loved playing together this year.
And my teammates loved having Andrew.

Bea made it home from the hospital!
Yippee! Carlos sent me this pic of her with him.

Whitney Ave!

McKayla is moving, so she's getting released as our second counselor.
That calling kind of feels like the Defense Against the Dark Arts teacher--
we're always looking for a new one! The four of us loved serving together.
Me (1st counselor), Mykie (secretary), Rebecca (president), McKayla (2nd counselor)

I never know what the Khats are going to send home with me.

This week it was this mysterious green fruit.

Google believes it is a passionfruit?
The Khats never know the English words
for the fruits, so it's an adventure!

Bea was up for a short visit.
Jayne and I stopped by for about 15 minutes.
Oh, how we loved hugging her neck and
catching up for a bit.

Some gorgeous flowers around the
Texas temples.

I think this was in San Antonio.

Look at their stained glass!
It was GORGEOUS!!

And my Camilla started to bloom!
I always love those pink blossoms in the fall.

Emily and I got to go to the temple together.
Love spending time with her.

A couple of Halloween pics of Caroline at silks.

Always beautiful!

The trees around the neighborhood lake are at peak!

Found the tiniest dead baby snake on my walk.

More fall beauty!

My Halloween "costume" this year
involved just putting these stickers on my face.
I loved it!
Except I kinda waxed my eyebrows when I took them off....
And not in a good way.
