First Day of School 2018

Eventually, it was time for my favorite season to end.
The rhythm of life moves on and it was time for school to start.

Miss Caroline is starting FIFTH grade.
That's a big one.
Last year of elementary school.
We've had a child at that school since 2007.
It's the end of an era.

Her bestie, Sarah, is not in the C's class.
They're both super sad about that.

BUT she has some other friends and acquaintances.

AND she got put in Ms. Bedingfield's class.
We've heard such great things about her
and C is looking forward to a great year.

Miss Whitney is a big freshman this year!
This is probably the smoothest transition you could hope for
from middle school to high school.
She auditioned for Penn-Griffin School for the Arts high school program.
That's where she has been attending middle school for the last three years.
She was THRILLED to be accepted into the program AND
to find out that her three closest friends also got it.

She will have a very different high school experience than
anyone in our family has had. As a magnet school,
it is a very small program. I think there are 40-50 kids in the freshman class.
It's a great fit for Whitney, though.
She is thrilled that she gets to be in a high-caliber chorus program.

Excited to see what the future holds for this beauty.

And this young man right here...
He's a senior!
How did this happen?
Am I old enough to have a senior?
Apparently so.

He has A LOT riding on this semester of classes.
He is leaning toward attending Dixie State University
in St. George. With his great ACT score, if he can
pull off STRAIGHT A's this semester, he will earn a
FULL TUITION scholarship to Dixie.
FINGERS CROSSED!!!

The four classes he has to ace:
Band
AP Psychology
US History
Earth/Environmental Science

I'm not the most sentimental person, but I'm going to miss having this kid around! He's so fun. And adds such a great energy to our family. It will be weird to have him move out. But I think he's ready for new adventures. And I'm excited to see what he chooses to do with his smarts, curiosity, strength and great sense of humor.
