What March Looked Like

In March, the weather starts warming up and we
usually feel like we can tackle the mountain of leaves in the backyard.

It was also perfect fire pit weather.

Miss Whitney had a chorus concert.

SO good.
Too bad they don't let me take video...

Caroline participated in Battle of the Books for the second year.

She wasn't super excited about joining the team again,
mainly because she doesn't like reading the same books
over and over again.
But Sarah isn't in her class this year, so this was a good
excuse for them to hang out after school.

The team!
They didn't make it pass the first round this year,
but they had fun and did their best.

Brandon had a teenage-boy moment while driving.
He followed his friend into a ditch.
The friend's car made it out unscathed.
Our Solara did not.
Sad, sad, sad.

The damage looks minimal, but it was totaled.
It was such a good car and all of us were
sad to see it go.

Whit got to go on a field trip with the
chorus and theatre kids to DISNEY WORLD!
Lucky, lucky girl.

Caroline came up with her own idea for
dress-like-a-book-character day at school.
Can you tell what she is?
A piece of paper!
She made her costume and I thought she did a fantastic job.
One of her teachers dressed as a rock and another as scissors.
I guess there's a book out right now about rock, paper, scissors...
Wish I had a pic of the three of them together!

Fun day at the science center with Piper.

Stopped for ice cream at Ollie's after.

Looks like our boy is moving to St. George after graduation!
Eeeek!
He pulled off the 4.0 that he needed the first semester
and qualified for a full-tuition academic scholarship.
Way to go, B!!!

Still have the puzzle table up.

There's a super cute little art gallery downtown.
I love to walk around and enjoy the artwork.
One of my favorite, most unique artists makes these pots.
They have openings and there's a landscape and architecture inside.
They make all different styles--Greek, Italian, Asian.
This month when we went in, they had a southwest pot.
It spoke to me!
I loved it!

There's a light inside.
The photo doesn't quite do it justice.
It is GORGEOUS.
Andrew and I seriously thought about buying it.
It was expensive, but so beautiful.
In the end, I was too afraid that I'd end up breaking it...

Whit got home from her field trip on a Sunday
while we were at church. I left Prince Charming up to greet her. Ha!

Signs of spring!

Care Bear decided to sign up for volleyball at the Y.
I signed up to be her assistant coach.
Her head coach ended up having health problems
and I was asked to take over at the last minute.
We had so much fun!
The team was made up of 4th and 5th grade girls.
They were funny, hard-working, and supportive of each other.

Almost all the girls were beginners and our first
couple of games were ROUGH, but we progressed
a lot over the course of the season.

Carmen Sandiego is a thing again.
It's funny to see trends from my childhood come back.

Apple pie for Pi day!

Yum.

Drew had church meetings,
but we saved some for him.

Care Bear had a climbing comp.
Ropes season isn't her favorite.

But she worked so hard!

She ended up in THIRD place. Woot!

Random pic from a YW activity

Took the girls to watch High Point Community Theatre's
production of Into the Woods, Jr.
It was great and the three of us really enjoyed it.
Our neighbor, Katie, was Cinderella and was fantastic.

I organized a game night group date.
Lots of fun.

Bunny!

Sunday dinner in the backyard on a perfect evening.

We had a sweet experience with this sister missionary
from the Spanish branch. I got to accompany her while
she sang a solo. We had practiced together once and then
she found out she was getting sent home for health reasons.
So happy she could leave her musical testimony with the
branch before she went home.

Puzzle fail...
We often buy puzzles from McKay's books, our local
used bookstore. They are always complete and we've had
really good luck. Well... This was a collection of EIGHT
puzzles. And when we opened the box, they were ALL
MIXED TOGETHER. Ugh! However, the previous owner
had taken the pieces and written a number 1-8 on the back
of each individual piece. It was nuts! Who does that?
We had nine puzzles to do--first sort through all the pieces.
Then assemble the eight puzzles. Ha!

Another fun science center visit.

Grateful for good friends.

We bought this lawnmower in June 2003,
right after we moved here.
It has been a GREAT mower,
but finally bit the dust...
Can you see how the top was all rusted through?
I got sixteen years of mowing out of that thing.
Pretty impressive!

And now he has been replaced with the mower
on the left. Let's see how long this one lasts.

Ready for our volleyball game!

Cheering from the bench

I'm a pretty animated coach! :)

Tennis date night!
Andrew's shoulder is still causing him some pain,
but I'm glad he can get back out on the courts with me.
