After our visit to Northern Cascades,
we stayed in a cute little AirBnB in Anacortes.
Caroline fell in love with it.
And also with the town.
It is on her short list of places she wants to live when she grows up.
Look at the adorable little nook where she got to sleep!
Not suitable for someone with claustrophobia,
but perfect for Care Bear.
It even had a little reading light in there.
I got to sleep in a regular bed.
We were in the upstairs of a family's home.
Both the husband and wife are artists.
It showed.
There was art everywhere,
including many pieces by the homeowners.
And other highbrow sculptures. Ha!
It was such a cute space.
We really enjoyed our night there.
We went out to dinner in downtown Anacortes.
Yum.
And a rare treat on our road trips.
This was a cute art installation piece.
After dinner, we drove up to Cap Sante Park to watch the sunset.
It did not disappoint.
LOVED it.
I talked Care Bear in to doing some silhouette shots.
This one makes me laugh SO HARD.
I was trying to do a ninja kick.
B-train always looks so cool when he does them.
Me? Not so much.
Ha ha ha ha!
Care Bear had some cool jumping shots, though.
So fun.
We saw many deer on our drive to and from Cap Sante. Cuties.
After a great night sleep in our awesome AirBnB,
we left to go Orca Watching!
Are you kidding me?
Neither of us had ever seen an Orca in the wild.
I was SO excited.
We were on a nice, big boat.
And we got to see LOTS of whales!
We saw two different pods of orcas.
Each one had 3-4 whales.
Awesome!
It was a fantastic experience.
I was so happy.
It was COLD.
We were warned that it would be.
And to dress in layers.
But it was a bit much for Caroline.
She wanted to sit inside and drink hot cocoa a lot of the time.
It was a beautiful day, even though it was chilly on the water.
We also got to see a humpback whale.
I couldn't believe how close it was to the shore!
A little glimpse of its tail fin.
The scenery out there was amazing.
We remembered our binoculars, which came in handy.
In additional to the whales, we also got to see
a pair of nesting bald eagles,
seals sunning themselves on the rocks,
and one HUGE type of seal.
The naturalist on the boat told us what it was called,
but I forgot now.
He was a big guy.
After our fabulous whale watching adventures,
we got to head to the Sherwoods house!
Hooray!
Greg and Nicolle were some of our closest
friends in our early years in Greensboro.
Greg was one of Andrew's counselors in the bishopric.
They moved to the Seattle area years ago and I
was so happy that we got to spend a little time with them.
Gorgeous post! I love Care Bear's little bedroom and all the nature shots!
ReplyDeleteYay for whale watching and seeing the Sherwoods!
