This is the shirt that Andrew and I found for me
on one of our Bucees visits. Isn't it perfect for me???
One of our family mission goals involves a certain number
of family trips to the temple. We took one of them in June.
I love bein with these three in the temple.
I love the peace that I feel there and the
service we give to our ancestors.
On our way in, we saw this adorable baby bunny. :)
Our friends, the Amachers, told us about a yummy
ice cream place in downtown Apex, near the temple.
We had never even been to this part of town!
It's so cute.
And the ice cream was DELICIOUS.
We'll definitely be back!
I love it when the water lilies bloom by the lake.
I took the girls to CoreLife Eatery.
I really like that place.
The girls only thought it was so-so.
But they loved the drinks!
Finley had a camp in High Point this summer,
so Natalie had time to kill on this side of town.
On one of the days, we met at the park and played.
Then when it started raining, we came back
to our house and played.
Andrew even took a little break from work to join us.
It was so fun and made me miss playing with
the boys more often. Glad I still get to see
Natalie regularly on the tennis court! ;)
Deer love to eat the day lilies in my front yard.
But one of them escaped their jaws. Yay!
Our first tomato harvest!
Drew is giving Care Bear her first driving lessons!
Won't be long until she can take Driver's Ed!
Bumble and Scoot
Since we were cruising on Father's Day,
we had to celebrate a little early. :)
This month, we also got to do sealings at the
temple with Mike and Emily Evans. Mike is Andrew's
second counselor. I love this couple and hope we
have more opportunities to hang out and get to know
each other. We went to dinner at yummy Irish Pub nearby.
Care Bear has been working on her summer volunteer hours for school. She has been working on sleeping mats for the homeless. We've gone downtown to serve breakfast to homeless friends a couple of times. And she has started volunteering at the NAI preschool while I am upstairs volunteering in class. She has really enjoyed it and it's super convenient!
This is my friend, Soma.
I met her way back in Oct 2019 when I started volunteering at NAI. She was a student in Teacher Brian's class, where I spend time each week. Well, she "graduated" from English school and is working in the preschool now. It was so good to see her! But I found out that she's moving to Europe to be closer to family. So I had to get a selfie with her before she left.
I don't know what these flowers are on the side of my neighbor's
house, but they smell AMAZING. Like you can smell them from the street
when you walk by. I LOVE THEM.
Care Bear is still silking twice a week.
And still loving it.
Progressing with her foot locks.
We stopped by a salon we'd never been to in Jamestown
and Care Bear's old climbing teammate, Hannah, was working.
So fun to run into her!
We also bought a composting bin!
C has been wanting to start.
Here we go!
Whit has spent Wed mornings this summer
in Dr. Millsaps office, observing in preparation
for applying to dental hygiene school.
How exciting!
She has enjoyed her time there,
so I'm hopeful she'll like hygiene, too.
On the actual day of our anniversary, I had a tennis match.
Lame way to spend it!
So, we went out for slurpees afterward,
just like we used to do all those years ago
when we first started dating and were playing
co-ed volleyball together at BYU.
It's hard to tell, but this is a teeny-tiny FROG.
One morning on my walk, they were ALL OVER the
walking trail! Kinda creepy and kinda cool.
I thought that was an ominous looking cloud.
The tomatoes are starting to grow!
And we have a little cucumber, too!
Looking forward to more harvest!
Backyard firepit and smores
Care Bear is started the fire without matches.
She's such a Renaissance woman!
It was a good night to take the piggies outside!
Until we heard an owl call.
Then the piggies were quickly escorted inside!
Months ago, I heard about a dance show in Charlotte that sounded really fun. Piper is one of Caroline's besties and the only friend who's into dance. So I talked to Piper's mom (my good friend, Angie), and we decided to get tickets for the four of us to go together. I've been so looking forward to it! Angie called a day or two before to let me know that they were having a family emergency and Piper wouldn't be able to come. Boo! But Angie and Ember could join us. Sure!
The show wasn't quite what we were expecting... We basically paid $25 to go to a super long recital. Most of the numbers were just kids dancing. That weren't very good. There were a few really talented ballroom and group numbers. But I don't think it was worth our money. But it was still fun to be in Charlotte with friends.
We took them to the fun park across the street
I always think I'm the same height as my friends until
I see myself in pictures with them.
And I'm a whole head taller.
The Central NC Chapter of the BYU Alumni Chapter
sponsored a night at the Winston Salem Dash,
their minor league baseball team.
Andrew and I got decked out in our BYU gear
and headed to Winston for date night.
We thought we'd be surrounded by other BYU
fans, but I think we were the only ones in our
section. Ha! Kinda lame. But it was a great
night for baseball anyway.
It was a nice stadium.
We hadn't been there.
And they had good fireworks afterward.
CAVA is one of my new favorite restaurants here.
I thought B would really like it, too, so I was excited
to take him while he was here.
It was a hit!
Care Bear liked it, too!
Bear had me try to do acro yoga with her
a while ago. It was a disaster.
They make it look so easy on YouTube.
But I couldn't do it!
So I told B to try it with her.
Of course, he made it look easier than YouTube.
Ha!
These are two STRONG kids of mine.
So happy we could spend some good time with B this summer.
He was in town for almost two weeks.
He took a long weekend climbing trip to TN
with his climbing buddies, too.
Fun chandeliers at Its Sugar
Care Bear ready for a stake dance.
Playground art
Playdoh fun with my nieces and nephew.
Wish they lived closer so we could do this more often!
Andrew looks so skinny! And I love Carolina's silks and the photos of you all at the temple, and all the new things you're growing and trying. So fun to see B too!
