One of the great things about Caroline's high school
is that they get a full week for fall break.
Yippee!
That's a luxury we've never had before.
Since Drew and Bear didn't get to go to UT
this summer, we decided to fly out for the break.
Airlines are in a weird place right now with lots of flights
getting delayed or cancelled. So instead of flying out of our
cute Greensboro airport, we drove to Raleigh so we could
get a direct flight to Salt Lake.
I went birding first thing in the morning.
Fun to get some new birds that don't live in NC.
Our trip just happened to coincide perfectly with
Barb's 70th birthday. Hooray! For her big day, she treated
all of us to a day at Lagoon. I haven't been there in YEARS.
I think EVERYONE except Ethan and Jonas could be there.
Isn't that crazy?
I love amusement parks.
It was spooky season, so there were
Halloween decorations everywhere.
So fun to catch up with family members while we were in lines.
If you look super close, you can see some of our family members. :)
Drew is so tall that he feels like he has to duck to
not his head on loop-de-loos.
Brandon and Whit even drove up from St. George!
We were SOOOO happy to see them.
We hadn't all been together since Whit's graduation in May.
We thought for sure B would be able to
win the big prize on this, but he fell a little early.
We mostly did our own thing throughout the day,
but we all met in the evening to have pizza and cake.
I love to see these two cousins together.
They were just missing Jonas.
Reagy is pretty much the same heigh as Drew...
when she's standing on the picnic bench. Ha ha!
Look at our crew!
Grandma's one request was that after dinner, we all
draw rocks and ride a ride with a family member
who drew a matching rock.
We decided to all go on the white roller coaster.
It worked out PERFECTLY where we ended up being
a whole coaster full of Sweats. (And two boyfriends.) :)
It was SUCH a fun and memorable experience
Reagy was super brave and filmed us while we were going!
Isn't this pic awesome?
This was a bizarre chainsaw dance.
The big kids stayed overnight and then had to drive
back to St. George EARLY in the morning to get
back to school and work.
Those mountains are BEAUTIFUL.
We had some great sunsets.
Fun walk along the river with Grandma.
We also got to drive the Alpine Loop one day.
Oh my gosh.
It was BREATHTAKING.
The pics don't do it justice.
It fed my soul and I loved it so much.
Always practicing!
Trying to be like Care Bear. Ha!
We found a couple of geocaches.
Caroline didn't like picking this one up.
Cascade springs
We stopped in Orem to get lunch.
Care Bear and I got our first Waffle Love. Yum.
Also went out by the Provo airport to do some birding.
Grandma took Bear and I to Gardner Village.
They go all-out on the witch theme for Halloween.
We stopped by a candy store.
Shared a yummy caramel apple.
Care Bear and her Grandma both love
rocks and plants!
Barb and I text each other during BYU football
games, since Andrew doesn't usually watch them.
I got us matching Cougars shirts that we can wear
on game day. Go Cougs!
We drove up to Erik and Heidi's house one night.
They also go ALL OUT for Halloween.
Unbelievable!
And it gets bigger every year.
We also go to see their koi pond.
Had a great time visiting with them.
The next day, Barb let us borrow her car and we
hit the road for St. George.
Stopped at Provo City Center Temple to do baptisms.
Loved that.
Drove Care Bear by our first basement apartment.
Then we met Tony for lunch at Brick Oven. Yum!
We made it to St. George in time to see Whit
for half a second before Chick-fil-a closed.
Went birding in the morning.
Then out to breakfast at the Farmstead.
So good.
We explored their downtown in the afternoon.
Fun carousel.
Toured the St. George tabernacle.
The temple is being renovated,
but we stopped by there, too.
Andrew and Caroline had some special time together at the Christus.
Stopped by the barn to see B-train.
He's still very happy living there.
Andrea thank you for this post! I am so grateful you put up those roller coaster videos because I don't know how! So fun to have you here to visit.

ReplyDeleteIt was so fun to see you at Lagoon! I was able to spend hours with your kids as we waited in the Frightmares lines and loved being able to talk at length with them.
