Dinner with Bea and Maureen.
Indian food.
It was delicious and the company was so fun.
Maureen looks like she's glowing in this pic.
For Julie's birthday, she wanted to play fun tennis with her friends.
Yippee! Yes, please!
We had such a good time,
even though it was a little chilly.
Back row: Kimmy, me, Catherine
Front: Sara, Lindsey, Birthday Girl Julie, Elisabeth, Natalie, Stephanie
Her husband was there at the beginning with flowers
for Julie and hot cider for all of us. So sweet!
Beautiful sky
Baptism temple day with Care Bear
We love stopping at FRESH Local Ice Cream
for a treat afterward. So good!
I got our new family portrait updated in our entryway.
Now I need to get the kids' pics updated, too.
Thanksgiving!
Last year we all drove to TX to spend Thanksgiving
with Grandma Cuca. I felt compelled to do that and I'm
SO glad we did. This year we decided to stay put.
So the big kids decided to go up to SL and spend
Thanksgiving with Grandma and Grandpa.
It was so fun getting text pics from Grandma.
Dubs is a GREAT helper in the kitchen,
Grandma really put her to work.
Playing Pit.
I couldn't believe they talked Grandpa into playing a game!
Butter turkey
Oh, I miss these cuties!
B is so fun to hug!
Dubs with a finished puzzle
B got to go with Amy and her family to do the circus escape room
that we did last month with Grandma.
They escaped for real! :)
We spent Thanksgiving with the Hunters.
Drew made the turkey, as usual.
And he always does a great job with it!
I love the way it looks when you pour
the evaporated milk in the pumpkin misture.
Lots of rolls.
The finished pumpkin pie.
Didn't look great, but tasted good. :)
April's parents and brother have moved
here to NC, so they had lots of family there.
And Savannah and Naje.
They also invited the missionaries.
Both the Elders and the Sisters.
It was a fun group.
Loved our feast!
Carving the turkey
The pie buffet!
My favorite!
I requested that we go to Winston to celebrate
me getting my license. :)
We ate at one of my favorite restaurants there,
Alma Mexicana. But it's actually changed names now
to El Costeno. Not sure if I still love it.
And then spent some time at Dave and Busters!
Woot!
It was a perfect celebration!
We also had a Thanksgiving Celebration at NAI.
So fun to hang out with my students!
Some of my favorites.
Cute table decor
Caroline's prepping for another family recital in December.
She's started learning some moves on aerial straps.
Looking good!
Miss Whit helped design this tattoo in honor
of Grandma Cuca. Celeste already got it done
and supposedly Mark and Destiny are getting
similar ones.
New puzzles ready for Whit to come home!
We have gone to the downtown Greensboro Christmas
Tree lighting for years, but also decided to try out the
High Point one this year.
Fun display
It was MUCH smaller than Gso,
which is both good and bad.
Fewer crowds, but also fewer vendors and food options.
It was a fun way to spend a date night.
I play WWF with Michael and Barb.
Michael and I started our game with
this perfect rectangle! I've never
seen that before.
Girls Night with my preschool friends at Jayne's house.
Only five of us could make it, but we sure enjoyed catching up.
My Gerbera Daisies just keep giving!
My Camilla is also in full bloom,
although this isn't he best picture of it...
We re-started going to silks two nights a week.
It got too expensive for a while.
And we drove to Burlington for a while.
But Care Bear got sick of doing that.
So I negotiated a deal with Sabrina
and we're back at her normal gym
twice a week now.
Which means I can take more pics again!
Back catch
Double leg lock
Straddle climb
Tennis with my favorite guy!
The Greensboro Symphony put on THE BEST show.
They played Broadway hits, had Broadway vocalists,
and then had cirque performers on stage!
Um, yes please!
It was such a fun night and all three of us LOVED it.
Birthday boy!!!
Last year in his 40's.
How did this happen?
He's still having some numbness in the
bottom of his left foot following his surgery.
It's been almost a year.
But other than that, it's been a pretty good year for him health-wise.
Yippee!
Chipotle for his birthday dinner.
Care Bear had a day off of school for Veteran's Day.
We went birding.
I got a new lifer!
A winter wren.
He's hiding well in that picture.
Blends right in with the background.
So funny that Caroline has to hang out with her old parents! Ha!
Cracker Barrel for brunch afterward.
Their cheesecake pancakes were TO DIE FOR.
My 6.5 combo team that makes it to state EVERY year
fell short this year. So sad! It felt so lame to not go to Wilmington with them.
BUT...
One of my 7.5 teams made it! Yippee!
Kristen, Casey, Me, Kimmy, Steph,
Elisabeth, Liz, Carole
I had never played in a 7.5 team at states, so I was worried.
But it went great.
It was over Andrew's birthday weekend,
so I didn't want to stay the whole time.
And that team is GOOD and have a lot of great players,
so I went out early and got to play in two matches.
And won them both!
Woo hoo!
I always have to sneak out to the beach when I'm in Wilmington.
And see some shore birds.
Oh, how I love the beach.
So relaxing.
When I left after day 1 of play,
our team was in FIRST PLACE!
So excting!
This was my partner in both of our matches, Liz Gill.
She got bumped to a 4.5 at the end of the season.
(That means she's REALLY good!)
In both matches, we lost the first set, won the second set
and then won in tiebreak. She's kind of intense, but is
SUCH a good player and I had fun playing with her.
Mexican for lunch!
Kimmy, Liz, Kristen, Carole, Me, Steph, Casey, Elisabeth
The sisters lost their first match,
so crying baby face for them. Ha ha!
Our two matches the next day were TOUGH and we lost them both.
We ended up finishing 5th place out of 13 teams, which is pretty dang awesome. The top 4 get to go on to finals. Unfortunately, the finals got rained out and they ended DRAWING NAMES to choose a champion. It was controversial and there were LOTS of unhappy people. I'm kinda glad we didn't have to deal with that.
Quick night-time stop at the beach
Look at the big jellyfish in the shore!
Look what came in the mail!!!
My license!
Aaaaggghhh!
After 8 months of prep work,
I'm finally official and licensed to practice
hygiene in NC!
The cheapest gas I've seen around here in a while: $2.92
Another failed SP wives get-together.
But Lisa and I had a great time hanging out and eating lunch.
And we finished a plastic bag mat together!
House finch at the feeder
I keep in touch with some of the missionaries who serve
here after they go home. One of them had asked for
my address way back in July so she could send a Christmas
card. Wow, she's on the ball!
Her card arrived early in November.
AND WAS POSTMARKED FROM 31 DEC 2001!
What the heck?
Did she send it from the past???
We also received Andrew's cousin, Julia's Christmas
card from 2022 this month... Something weird is
going on with our mail.
A cute little Carolina wren flew into the garage.
Checked out some things and flew back out.
Fall leaves!
So pretty!
Care Bear had some friends from her old
school who were in The Crucible at Ragsdale.
She and I went to support them.
I didn't like that creepy show at all.
But her friends did great.
It was cool to see that autographed
Larry Ogunjobi jersey hanging on the wall.
Brings back so many memories of B-train being at this school.
Another racquets and jackets match
My ministering sister, Kim, brought me
back this Stick Toffee Pudding hot cocoa
from England. Oh my gosh. It's decadent,
Such a fun treat as the temps start to drop.
Right after Thanksgiving, we got the tree set up!
Love it!
Our tree is on its last limb, though.
I want to buy a new one next year.
We've had this one for over a decade,
so we definitely got our money's worth.
