Road Trip 2024: NC to TX

So excited to road trip across the country this summer!
It's always so much fun to see lots of friends and family
members along the way! This year, it's just me and Caroline
hitting the road. And blogger put the pics in reverse order...
It's always fun to spend time with Destiny and her family
in Midland. Quinn is into baking and had this delicious
banana pudding waiting for us.

Dinner at the casual Japanese place that
Caroline loves and requested--Hibachi Express.

I love that the Stonehouse kids are board-gamers and
will usually play all the games that I want to play!
We had a question about the rules of Cover Your Assets,
and realized that Grandpa Beck puts his personal cell phone #
on the packaging of his games, so we called him to get
some clarification. And he totally answers! He was out hiking
and asked if he could call us back. About an hour later,
he gave us a call back, but in the meantime, we had resolved our question.

I hadn't played Just Dance in quite a while.
I think the girls were surprised that I was good. Ha!

We were treated to a musical performance--
Olivia on the violin (viola?), Quinn singing,
and Trinity and Bubba backing her up.

Also a solo orchestral performance by O.

It was a beautiful day while we were there, so
we spent some time at Hogan Park enjoying
the outdoors.

Pretty sunflowers

Cute turtles

Also Destiny took me to see the ADORABLE
Burrowing Owls. Oh, how I love them!

Before we made it to Midland,
we spent some time with Aunt Irene and Uncle Bill.
Caroline REALLY wanted to go back to SeaQuest.
Aunt Irene took us there a few years ago and they have
capybaras! That you can pet! It's the only time we've ever
had that experience, so she wanted to repeat it.

I got to feed the birds.
It is always hilarious and a little creepy.

The part we'd been waiting for!
Last time we went, they had three little
capybaras and you could just go in and
hang out with them.
Regulations have changed, my friends.
Boo.

Now you have to pay extra to have an interaction with them.
And then it's SOOOOO short.
We basically got to feed him one little thing
and then he walked away.

We still enjoyed it, but it wasn't as fun
as we were expecting.

We got to see lots of other cool animals there.

Otters are so cute!

Look at that smile!

I love prairie dogs.

They have some cool aquariums.

It's hard to tell, but this is a sugar glider.
Not sure that I've seen one in a zoo before.

Cownose!

They took us out to eat a yummy Mediterranean place.
Too much food!

And we got to play chickenfoot, which I think I only play with them.
Caroline won.

We stopped at my cousin's super cute coffee shop.
He wasn't there yet again, so I've actually never met him.
And my parents told me that he doesn't own it anymore.

Road trips are the best!

Stopped at PJ's for beignets!!

And Bucees is always a win!

Our first fun stop was at The Works in Atlanta.
Acai bowl

Spring rolls and elotes.

We're kind of afraid of Atlanta,
but we LOVE The Works giant food court.

Ready to go with my steering wheel cover
from Maureen and Bea. Ha!

Love driving across the country with this girl!!
