Mexican food date night is always a good idea.
Care Bear is playing on her school's quiz bowl team this year.
It has been SO FUN.
They got started late, so only got to participate in one
competition. It was regionals. Gulp.
It went pretty bad.
They went 0-5 and finished last in their group.
But then they got to play the last place team from
the other group and they won! Woo hoo!
The upside is they have five sophomores
and one freshman on the team--lots of room for growth!
Pictured: Mr. Hartzell, Henry, Abigail, Bella, Care Bear,
Beaux, and Wenda.
Pizza during our lunch break.
And ice cream from Homeland Creamery to celebrate afterward.
Off to work!!
I love my job so much!
I'm working one day a week on Tuesdays.
The hardest part of coming back was learning how to use the dumb computer.
Ugh.
I felt like such an old lady trying to figure it out.
But I LOVE meeting new patients.
I LOVE cleaning teeth.
I LOVE teaching about the importance of oral health.
And I've really enjoyed making friends at work,
which I hadn't really thought about as a perk for going back.
Temple date is even better than Mexican food!
And Chick-fil-a afterward always makes us think of Miss Whit.
Coffee house concert at school for Caroline's chorus
My one lone tulip that bloomed this year. Boo.
Girls night out with Jayne
I got in an accident! Boo!
It's been like 25 years since I had one.
It wasn't my fault, though.
I was at a stop sign at the end of the exit to get NCLA.
I was waiting to turn right and the guy behind me (who was Brandon's age)
rammed into me with his big work truck. Thankfully, no one was hurt.
But my bumper got a little hole in it.
Just kind of a pain to get it repaired.
Spring is springing
I loved this picture that Dubs posted of her
and her friends enjoying the desert.
Also holding a frog???
Grasshopper pie for Pi day. Yummy!
Cirque du Soleil's show Corteo came to Greensboro!
And even though Care Bear and I already saw it in Norfolk,
we couldn't resist the chance to watch it again so close to home.
Andrew got to come with us this time.
It's such a crazy and fun show.
The best part is when they throw this
little woman out into the audience attached to those
giant balloons. Unbelievable.
For Caroline's end-of-quarter break in March,
we took a quick trip up to Norfolk, VA.
First stop: Spring Haven Farm in Chapel Hill
We had so much fun feeding the animals.
The baby goats were THE BEST.
These were the baby-babies. Way too cute.
Such a fun stop.
In Virginia, we stopped at Great Dismal Swamp National Wildlife Refuge.
We were looking forward to some good birding there.
Unfortunately, it started raining not long after
we got there, so our visit was cut short.
Not our fave national park...
Might have to give it another try at a different
time of year.
Care Bear and I ate here last year and we loved
it so much that this was one of the main reasons we wanted to
come back!
Welp, it didn't live up to expectations.
Kind of a let down.
Especially when you drove three hours to eat there...
The fondue for dessert was still fantastic, though!
Love it!
On the way home, we stopped at Sylvan
Heights Bird Park. A friend had told me about it,
but it's way out in the boonies, so not easy to get to.
Oh my gosh. It is SO worth the drive!!
Ruddy duck
Beautiful pheasant
We got to feed parakeets--always fun.
Scarlet Ibis
This king vulture was incredible
Beautifully creepy
I don't know what this guy is...
Black necked-stilt
Sandhill crane--
one of our faves in Wingspan
The colors on this guy were EXQUISITE!
This guy kinda looks like he needs a haircut.
Black swan
We had so much fun.
I could've stayed forever.
Stopped in Zebulon, NC.
A small town that was supposed to have some cute shops.
Some of them had closed down. :(
We did get to do some fun thrifting, though.
This totally reminded me of Whit.
Dinner out with Maureen and Bea to celebrate Bea's birthday.
Caroline was asked to give a speech at
National Honor Society induction.
So proud of her. She did great!
Spring tennis has started.
Yippee!
I got to play with Lisbeth a couple of times.
We lost all of our matches and I felt like she blamed me.
Whatcha ya gonna do?
I worked with these ladies to put on an awesome
bridal shower for Savannah.
They did most of the work,
I was just in charge of games.
"Tip jar" for marriage advice
*I hid rings all over the venue and one of the games
was to find all the rings. It was a tight competition
between Hadley and Ethel, but I think Ethel won in the end.
Guess how many kisses are in the jar.
April and Savannah
Lots of church friends were able to come.
It was a great afternoon.
Caroline and I watched a circus-type
performance at the Woven Works park downtown.
It was small, but pretty cool.
My Easter decor for this year!
I love it so much!
Oh my gosh you and Amy both updated today and you were both so close to abandoning blogging! My lucky afternoon! My only problem was I thought this was March 2025 and started reading about Caroline's quiz bowl team and I thought, hey, they did lots better than that.....that's what made me look at the date! Your photos of birds amaze me. Stunning!
ReplyDeleteI have a few posts of yours to get caught up on now, you're updating quickly! That bird refuge looks awesome, so many amazing colors on the birds!
